Preparation
- Start by placing the potatoes in a pot of salted water. Boil until tender, then drain and mash. Set aside.
- In a pan, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and cook until they turn translucent.
- Toss in the minced garlic and stir for another minute.
- Introduce the ground lamb to the skillet, seasoning it with cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Sauté until the lamb is beautifully browned.
- Stir in the chopped herbs and remove from heat, allowing the mixture to cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with the lamb mixture, binding everything together with the beaten egg.
- With your hands, shape the mixture into patties.
Cooking
- Heat some oil in a clean pan over medium heat. Gently place the patties in and fry them until they are golden brown on both sides.
- Serve them hot, perhaps with a yogurt sauce or some fresh veggies on the side.
Notes
These patties are versatile; you can adjust the herbs based on availability. For a healthier option, consider baking them instead of frying.
