Preparation
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- Slice the onion from the root end down into 16-20 petals, being careful not to cut all the way through.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper together.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.
- Dip the onion into the flour mixture, followed by the egg wash, and then coat with bread crumbs.
- Brush the onion lightly with oil.
- Wrap the onion in aluminum foil to retain moisture.
Cooking
- Place the wrapped onion on the grill and cook for about 30-40 minutes until tender and crispy.
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Consider adding cayenne pepper for heat or fresh herbs for extra flavor. For dipping sauces, a creamy garlic aioli or spicy chipotle dip works well. Grilled veggies or potato wedges are excellent sides.
