Lasagna Ingredients
  • 9 pieces lasagna noodles Regular or no-boil noodles can be used.
  • 2 cups cottage cheese Can substitute with ricotta for creaminess.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Feel free to add an extra sprinkle between layers.
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese Use for topping.
  • 1 large egg To bind the filling.
  • 3 cups marinara sauce Make sure it's not overly watery.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust according to your preference.
  • optional Fresh basil for garnish For decoration and added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package directions, then drain them.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of your baking dish.
Layering and Baking
  1. Layer 3 lasagna noodles over the sauce. Next, add half of the cottage cheese mixture, followed by a generous layer of marinara sauce and some mozzarella cheese.
  2. Repeat the layers again: noodles, cottage cheese mixture, marinara, and mozzarella.
  3. Top it off with the last three noodles, then pour the remaining marinara sauce over everything, finishing with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  4. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and just starting to brown.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. If you like, garnish with fresh basil for a pop of color!

Notes

Serve with a light green salad and garlic bread for the perfect meal. Store leftovers tightly covered in the fridge for 3-5 days or freeze for longer storage.
