Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the creamed butter mixture until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips gently.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each for spreading.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes, or until golden brown around the edges.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For freezing, scoop the dough onto a baking sheet, freeze until solid, and transfer to a freezer bag. Bake directly from the freezer, adding a couple of minutes to the baking time.
