  • 8 oz Pasta (spaghetti, penne, or whole wheat) Choose your preferred type of pasta
  • 4 cups Fresh broccoli Cut into florets
  • 2 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil Use high-quality for better flavor
  • 3 cloves Fresh garlic, minced More garlic can enhance flavor
  • to taste Salt Use for seasoning
  • to taste Pepper Use for seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmesan cheese For serving

Method
 

Cooking the Pasta and Broccoli
  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions in salted water.
  2. Three minutes before the pasta is done, add the broccoli to the boiling pot.
  3. Drain the pasta and broccoli, and reserve a little pasta water.
Sautéing
  1. In a large pan, warm the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
Combining and Serving
  1. Toss the drained pasta and broccoli into the pan and stir.
  2. Add reserved pasta water until you achieve your desired level of sauciness.
  3. Season with salt and pepper to taste, and top with a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese before serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a drizzle of olive oil or lemon juice when serving. This dish is versatile; add proteins like chicken or shrimp, or try different vegetables.
